House Washing 101: What Makes Soft Washing and Pressure Washing Different?

When cleaning the exterior of your home, you can use soft washing or pressure washing. Each of these services is unique in how they clean surfaces and in how they can be used. As you learn more about the differences between these two types of washing services, you’ll be better able to decide when to use them on your property.

How Does Soft Washing Differ from Pressure Washing in New Smyrna Beach?

The first thing to know about these two types of washing services is that they use different methods for cleaning. When it comes to pressure washing, the main ingredient is power. A high-pressure nozzle is used to add force to the spray, which removes stains and debris that may be stuck to a surface.

A pressure wash is ideal before winter to remove debris that might otherwise be concealed under snow and ice.

Soft washing does not use a pressurized flow of water. Instead, cleaning chemicals are added to the water to remove stains, debris, and any unwanted discoloration.

There’s also more manual labor involved in soft washing since the force of water flow is decreased. The work team will use soft sponges and other tools to work the soap-infused water into the surface before rinsing.

A soft wash is better used for cleaning painted surfaces, such as wood siding or your car or truck.

When Is Soft Washing Useful?

There are several situations in which a pressure wash isn’t advisable, even though those surfaces still need to be cleaned. For example, soft washing would be the better option for removing debris from solar panels. Any surface that could suffer damage from a highly pressurized water flow should be cleaned with a soft wash service.

Examples where soft washing is advised include:

  • Screens
  • Stucco surfaces
  • Painted surfaces
  • Cedar shake roofing

If you’re unsure about using a pressure washing service on a particular surface, ask your washing service provider. They will have the knowledge and experience to guide you.

When Should You Use Power Washing?

Pressure or power washing in New Smyrna Beach should be used on more resilient surfaces, such as brick or concrete. The high pressure is excellent for rinsing away stains and the buildup of grime on these more durable surfaces.

Some common places where a pressure wash may be necessary include:

  • Patios and porches
  • Driveways and sidewalks
  • Vinyl siding
  • Pool decks
  • Certain types of roofs

You can also use pressure washing in New Smyrna Beach on your commercial property. Try using this service to keep a dumpster pad clean or to brighten up the exterior of your brick or concrete building. Power washing is an effective service for removing chewing gum, spilled beverages, and other debris.

In using both soft washing and pressure washing services, you can also protect your property from damage. Removing debris, pests, and pollen from the surfaces on your property will reduce the risks of scratches, scrapes, and discoloration.

In this way, routine washing services will help you maintain the good condition of your property for longer and reduce your need for repairs and maintenance.
